# Battery Storage

**Storage Mode**

Storage Mode is when the battery is actively discharging to a storage voltage to improve battery life. Storage Mode starts after there has been no activity for a period of time. By default, that period of time is 7 days and can be changed or disabled via a parameter (see section “[Parameter Details](/b/12s-17000mah-15c-user-manual/parameter-details.md)”). Activity is when the battery is charged or discharged, the battery’s CAN is connected, or the battery is outside the safe discharging temperature range.

You may also hold down the button until the LEDs flash twice to postpone Storage Mode. This also ends Storage Mode if it is currently active.

For example, if a battery is sitting on a shelf for 2 days, Storage Mode will start in 5 days under the default setting. But if you cause any Activity or hold the button down, the internal countdown resets and Storage Mode will start in 7 days.

The LEDs will continuously flash towards a low state of charge while Storage Mode is active. Storage Mode ends when the battery reaches a pack voltage of 45.84V, when any cell gets to 3.8V, when any Activity occurs, or when you postpone storage mode by holding down the button. Storage mode will start again later as described previously if no Activity occurs.
