# Manage Roles

Managing roles can seem like a lot initially with all the different options you get when adding or editing existing roles. But they are simple and easy to understand.

<figure><img src="https://4031078831-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FGHgPV5tCtynHD0v1TGes%2Fuploads%2FYon5QN04xHZUJ5RIUAj0%2Funknown.png?alt=media&amp;token=7d7fc3dc-fff9-4fdf-bd36-d1e5d30fa222" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

To start the structure is the user ability/access you are editing on the far left column and then all the options that correspond to that ability/access are to the right of it. If a box is missing then that means that it isn't able to be edited. A good example is Billing only having the ability to update your billing information, you can't create new billing options, or read anything that isn't there by default, or delete any billings sent to your account. So, the only thing one needs is the ability to update the user billing information there for their organization.

For an example, let's say we wanted to add in someone who is just managing the batteries as a whole within the organization. They aren't using them directly, but they can add and remove them. The boxes you'd want checked would be something close to what you see below:

<figure><img src="https://4031078831-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FGHgPV5tCtynHD0v1TGes%2Fuploads%2FIVphSkF6YLHi6clweRhm%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=92644177-c087-4694-897a-43c38209b386" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

With this layout of options they have the ability to upload new information, update those uploads, add in new custom fields for batteries, and update, create, and delete views from the Quick View section of the Inventory Page. They would not have access to changing their role or other users' roles as well as not being able to edit or change user information.&#x20;
